ABU, Japanese varsity renew MoU on joint research, publications, others
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and Nagasaki University, Japan have renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) they jointly signed in 2009 for research, publications, and exchange of staff and students.
The MoU renewal was signed at Nagasaki University on 9th October, 2024. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kabiru Bala, signed on behalf of Ahmadu Bello University while the President of the Nagasaki University, Prof Nagayasu Takeshi stood in for the Japanese institution.
Ahmadu Bello University first signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Nagasaki University in 2009.
The renewal of the expanded MoU is for another five years.
It is intended to encourage joint research, publications, exchange of staff and students, as well as teaching, conferences, and workshops.
Engineering and Education are now included in the expanded MoU.
Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond B Bako; Director, Advancement and International Education, Prof Sani Abba Aliyu, mni; and Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof Mohammed Nasiru Shuaibu.
Others included the Centre Leader, Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB), Prof Y K E Ibrahim; and the Centre Leader, Sustainable Procurement Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (SPESSCE), Prof Japhet Wisdom.
