Africa Housing Awards honours ABU Vice-Chancellor
• For ‘unparalled constributions to Nigeria’s housing and construction sector’
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, was among the distinguished Nigerians who were conferred with the ‘Life Achievement Award’ by the Africa Housing Awards in recognition of their unparalled contributions to Nigeria’s housing and construction sector.
Others who received the award during the Africa Housing Awards and Industry End of the Year Dinner 2024 held at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja on Saturday, 14th December, 2024, included Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu and his Nasarawa State counterpart, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, as well as Minister of Housing, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and many others.
The event, organised by Housing TV Africa in collaboration with the Housing Development Advocacy Network, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders from across Africa.
Prof. Bala’s nomination for the award was on the strength of the success of his tenure as the Chairman of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) and membership on the National Universities Commission Board, which significantly influenced policies and standards, shaping the future of housing and construction in Nigeria.
As Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University and member of multiple prestigious professional bodies, according to the Africa Housing Awards, Prof. Bala had championed innovation and collaboration, leaving a lasting impact on academia and built environment.
“With a career spanning decades, you have dedicated your expertise to shaping future professionals through the successful supervision of 15 PhDs and over 35 MSc candidates, alongside publishing over 80 scholarly works.
“Your tenure as the Chairman of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) and service on the National Universities Commission Board reflects your impact on policy and standards within the industry.
“As Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University and a member of multiple prestigious professional bodies, your extensive academic and administrative leadership has advanced innovation, collaboration, and excellence in Nigeria’s housing and construction landscape”, according to Festus Adebayo, the Coordinator for the Africa Housing Awards.
The event had not only highlighted achievements but also inspired greater innovation and dedication across the housing sector, fostering a spirit of excellence and collaboration.
