ACENPEE procures 10 desktop computers for Directorate of Advancement and International Education
• To enhance ABU alumni data management
The Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering (ACENPEE) today (Friday, 30th August, 2024) presented 10 desktop computers to the Directorate of Advancement and International Education (DA&IE), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to enhance its operations, particularly in the areas of alumni data management and graduate tracer system.
ACENPEE is a World Bank centre domiciled at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Presenting the computers to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, at the VC’s Conference Room, for onward transmission to the Directorate of Advancement and International Education, the Deputy Centre Director, Prof. A.S. Ahmed, explained that the gesture was in line with Institutional Impact under DLI of the Africa Centre of Excellence Impact Project.
The Deputy Centre Director said that ACENPEE was appreciative of the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for the tremendous support to the Africa Centre of Excellence towards the implementation of the ACE impact project.
Prof. Ahmed, who represented the Centre Director, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, also said that ACENPEE would continue to work with the University for greater institutional impact of the ACE project.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, who received the computers for onward transmission to the Directorate of Advancement and International Education (DA&IE), expressed the University’s immense appreciation to the Centre for the gesture.
Prof. Bala, who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, recalled the request made to the University management by the Directorate of Advancement and International Education for desktop computers, which was forwarded to the Centre for assistance.
The Vice-Chancellor handed over the computers to the Directorate soon after the presentation and urged that the equipment should be put to good use to achieve the purpose for which they were provided.
Receiving the computers, the Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, mni, thanked the University Management and ACENPEE for the support, assuring that the computers would be judiciously utilised for a good database and tracer system for the University alumni.
The Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila; Ag. University Librarian, Dr. Abdulhamid Gambo Liman; Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Mukhtar; and Dean of Students, Prof. Sahalu Junaidu, assisted the Vice-Chancellor in taking delivery of the computers.
Others included the Director, Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT), Malam Shuaibu Umar; Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar; and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwalu Y. Mohammed.
