ABU SBS Class of 1976/77 reconnects with alma mater

Members of Ahmadu Bello University School of Basic Studies (ABU SBS) 1976/1977 have visited the institution almost 45 years after their graduation.

Led by their President, Ambassador Rabiu Dagari, mni, the members said they felt the need to reconnect with their alma mater to identify possible areas of collaboration in view of the multiplicity of challenges facing most universities in the country.

The members, who were on a two-day visit to the institution, spoke when they called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, in his office.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude over their effort and pointed out that the alumni are a very important part of any institution’s sustainability worldwide.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, the Vice-Chancellor intimated the team about the ABU Endowment Foundation for every alumni to deposit a minimum of 25,000 naira annually.

He appreciated their initiative of wanting to give back to their alma mater at this time when public universities are grappling with inadequate funding.

The members were taken round the various places inside the University to see things for themselves.
