ABU, Kaduna govt sign MoU on scholarship award to students
Ahmadu Bello University and Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board have signed a memorandum of understanding for scholarship award to qualified students of the state studying in the University.
Under the arrangement, the board will award scholarship for payment of school charges to its students while the University agrees to facilitate its disbursement.
The MoU came into effect on Friday, 28th July, 2023, and it shall remain in force for a period of five years after which the parties are at liberty to renew or otherwise.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, signed on behalf of Ahmadu Bello University while the Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, Hassan Rilwan, signed for the Board.
Speaking after the MoU signing, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, described the initiative as laudable, and thanked most sincerely His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, for the gesture.
Prof. Bala expressed satisfaction that Kaduna State government was appointing young men and women to lead various government parastatals and other establishments, saying the youth would give their best as they were being carried along.
Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, Hassan Rilwan, disclosed that the board would pay N20 million into ABU Microfinance Bank this week for payment to qualified students of the state.
The Executive Secretary said that the board worked out four types of scholarship for students of the state namely merit, need-based, disability and sports, stressing that no Kaduna student would be kept out of school on the basis of lack of money.
The Executive Secretary was in company of his management team that comprised the Director, Loans, Iyal Zubairu; Director, Compliance, Jamila Zaharaddeen; Director, Administration and Finance, Solomon Yohanna; Director, Scholarship, Tiro Khah; and Desk Officer, Zeenat Abdulsalam.
