ABU Alumni association assures of continued support to alma mata
The worldwide leadership of the Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association today paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor and Management Staff of the University.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the Association, Malam Adamu Mamman Kontagora, stated that they were at the University to brief the Vice-Chancellor on the association’s forthcoming dinner and gala night in Abuja to bring together established alumni to discuss the challenges of the University and the way forward.
Kontagora expressed delight for the trust in the new leadership of the association by the Vice-Chancellor, saying that he would support the endowment fund foundation of the University by making sure all his National Executive Council members contribute to it.
He disclosed that the activation of the state branches is ongoing in order to have a database of all ABU Alumni in different places across the country.
Kontagora assured the University Management of continued support of the association in order to attain a greater height.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, disclosed that most of the best Universities in the world rely on their respective alumni association to survive.
Prof. Bala said the University would start sending newsletters to alumni members to keep them informed on some activities and where they need intervention.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that it is now the best time to rely on the endowment fund, for it can fund the University in the future, stressing that with this development, they can generate enough to fund the University’s investments.
He cited examples of how other influential Universities in the world go out of their way to seek for national and international positions for their alumni members
Prof. Bala said also the University needs support and that the alumni is the best shoulder to lean on.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the leadership of the alumni for the visit and assured them of the University’s continued support anytime.
