Zaria police chief calls on ABU’s new VC, says security is everyone’s priority
The Area Commander, Police Zaria Area Command, AbdulRahman Idris, has described security as everyone’s priority.
Idris, who is Assistant Commissioner of Police, made the assertion when he paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof Adamu Ahmed.
The Area Commander explained that they were in the University for familiarisation with the management and seek and advice from intellectuals and scholars.
ACP Idris also said security was not a one man’s business and that the need for synergy and collaborations between the University and the Nigeria Police should be sustained.
He disclosed that the Area Command had 17 Divisional Offices and it was ever ready to work and respond to distress calls on issues affecting the University any day any time.
He thanked the University Management for the warm reception accorded to him and his entourage.
Responding, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, expressed happiness for having the Area Commander, and appreciated him for prompt responses on security issues affecting the University.
Prof Ahmed acknowledged with delight previous supports the University received from the Command.
The Vice-Chancellor called on ACP Idris to always intimate the University on areas lacking in terms of oversight.
The Vice-Chancellor was supported in receiving the Police Area Commander by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi.
Others were a representative of the Bursar, Malam Garba Shehu; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Mohammed Yusuf.
