Zaria FRSC boss visits ABU, calls on VC
. Pledges training, free vehicle safety checks Zaria Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nasir Abdullahi Falgore, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed.
Falgore and other officers of the unit were received at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room on Thursday, 23rd October, 2025.
He congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his assumption of office and pledged to support ABU in any capacity.
The Unit Commander said ABU had always been compliant in terms of vehicle registration and drivers licenses and urged the institution to keep up the good practice.
He said FRSC and ABU had always been operating in synergy.
Falgore appreciated the warm reception accorded him on the visit to the university and pledged the FRSC’s continued support to the university.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, expressed appreciation for the visit.
Ahmed, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, commended the FRSC for its efforts in enforcing traffic laws.
He also praised them for promoting road safety and public enlightenment/education, especially on road usage and vehicle maintenance.
The Vice-Chancellor said he was looking forward to partnering with the FRSC in terms of short courses on transportation.
He also appreciated the opportunity for the free vehicle safety checks which he described as commendable.
Prof Ahmed said the university’s Departments of Educational Psychology and Councelling and Sociology could partner with the FRSC in training drivers and personnel on mental well-being and effects of drugs usage by drivers.
He called on the Corp to also partner with the university’s centres of excellence on courses, regarding road safety and smart driving among road users.
Making the courses mandatory before granting of licenses, according to him, would ensure accident free roads.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked them for the visit and expressed the university’s readiness to partner in any way possible.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, was present when the Vice-Chancellor received the FRSC commander.
The Registrar, Rabiu Samaila, was represented by the Deputy Registrar, Human Resource Administration, Dalhatu Salihu, while Deputy Bursar, Ibrahim Salisu, stood in for the Bursar.
The Acting University Librarian, Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Mohammed, was equally present.
Others present were the Head, Department of Sociology, Dr Bashir Abubakar, and the University Transport Officer, Shuaibu Halilu Ahmad.
