Vice-Chancellor urges ABU graduating students to build good networks among themselves for future

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has stressed the need for students to establish good networks among themselves as such relationships always come handy in the future.

Prof Ahmed was speaking at the maiden orientation for ABU graduating students put together by the institution’s Counselling and Human Development Centre.

Ably represented by the Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education (DAIE), Prof Sani Abba Aliyu, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the students on reaching the last lap of their undergraduate journey.

Ahmed also advised them to always be good ambassadors of their alma mater by portraying the university in good light anywhere they found themselves.

The Dean, Student Affairs Division, Prof Sahalu B Junaidu, in his remarks at the occasion, felicitated with the students and urged them to pay attention to all presentations that would be made during the orientation.

Prof Sahalu, who was represented by Assistant Dean, Student Affairs Division, Dr. Muhammad Hashim Sulaiman, commended the Counselling and Human Development Centre for the initiative.

Earlier in her address, the Director, Counselling and Human Development Centre, Dr Sa’adatu Makarfi, said the orientation was organised to help students understand the realities of life after graduation.

She said experts would make presentations in different fields of concern both from within and outside the university.

Presentations at the two-day event largely centred on requirements for graduation, mobilisation for NYSC, resume or curriculum vitae writing, job search and job interviews.

Alhaji Lawal Yunus of Saj Foods made a presentation on ‘Business Success Story’, while Prof Nasiru Abdullahi spoke on ‘Sustainable Entrepreneurship’.

Also, the Assistant Director, Mobilisation, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Dr Abraham Oludolapo, made a briefing on modalities for NYSC mobilisation, among many other things.
