Vice-Chancellor receives NYSC delegation to ABU for graduating students orientation

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, has received a delegation from the headquarters of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that arrived in the university for the orientation programme organised for graduating students 2024/2025 session.

The delegation, led by the Assistant Director, Mobilization, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Dr. Abraham Oludolapo, was accompanied for the courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor by the Director, Counselling and Human Development Centre, Dr. Sa’adatu Makarfi.

Receiving the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, expressed appreciation to the National Youth Service Corps for the support it was giving to the university at all time.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the orientation would guide ABU graduates in the right direction while serving the nation in addition to creating synergy between the two institutions.

Prof Ahmed pointed out that ABU and NYSC were similar when it came to bringing together people from different parts of the nation. He said that ABU had just won a prize for ‘The Best Institution’ at the 5th edition of National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards for its national spread in its admissions process.

Earlier speaking, the Assistant Director, Mobilisation, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Dr. Abraham Oludolapo. said that the orientation would be a great avenue for NYSC to sensitize and prepare the minds of graduating students on what lay ahead of them.

Dr. Oludolapo commended the university for always coming up with initiatives that would ease the operations of the service.

Also speaking, the Director, Counselling and Human Development Centre, Dr Sa’adatu Makarfi, said that the orientation programme for graduating students was to prepare the minds of the university graduates and give them a mindset shift that would help them face the challenges of life after graduation.

Dr. Makarfi described the orientation as the first of its kind and it was designed to stimulate their thoughts early to enable them make informed choices that would make them excel after graduation.
