Vice-Chancellor inspects ongoing toilets project at ABU Quarter II housing estate
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, was today at Quarter II housing estate to inspect 27 toilets being constructed for residents of the area.
The project, comprising three blocks of nine toilets each, followed concern by the Vice-Chancellor over the total dilapidation of the existing toilet facilities in the place.
The Vice-Chancellor came to know of the situation when he visited the place last September in an effort to assess the conditions of staff residential homes on the campus.
Worried about the situation, the Vice-Chancellor immediately directed that new toilets should be constructed to avoid open defecation that might likely result in health risks.
In addition, Prof Ahmed approved the installation of 25 street solar lamps to lighten streets for maximum security in the staff residential area.
Inspecting the project today – Sunday, 2nd November, 2025 -, the Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work.
On arrival at the staff residential area, Prof Ahmed met the contractor handling the work at the site, and commended him.
The Vice-Chancellor was hopeful that the toilets would be responsibly utilised by the residents through effective maintenance.
Already, two blocks of the toilets have been completed while work on the remaining one block is ongoing, and it is expected to equally be ready before the week runs out.
Upon sighting the Vice-Chancellor at the project site, some residents of the area came and expressed gratitude to him for the gesture.
