Vice-Chancellor commissions three projects in Samaru, Kongo campuses
The Vice-Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, today (Tuesday, 4th March, 2025) commissioned a 300-seater capacity twin theatre, a multipurpose hall and a leadership centre in both Samaru and Kongo campuses of the university.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Bala expressed delight that the designs of the buildings were in conformity with the master plan of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that all the designs were products of Physical Planning and Municipal Services (PP&MS).
Prof. Bala stated that there are two fantastic buildings at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, which are also products of PP&MS.
According to him, PP&MS are the custodians of all buildings and properties and that they must maintain them for posterity.
He expressed happiness that the Phase II is blending with the landscape of the University.
In his remark, the Director, PP&MS, Architect Suleiman Muhammad, explained that the title of the twin theatres used to be 500 capacity, but when Prof. Bala came, it was made twin theatre with 300 capacity each.
Architect Suleiman said when Prof. Bala came, PP&MS was not meeting to expectations until Prof. Abubakar Abdullahi was brought as Ag. Director, stressing that with his coming, their designs outsmarted those of other consultants.
The Director thanked the Vice-Chancellor for having confidence in them to design projects of the magnitude of the twin theatres.
Also speaking, the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Design, Prof. Abdullahi Abubakar, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for giving him the opportunity to lead the PP&MS at a time when he (the Vice-Chancellor) complained that it was not performing at its best.
The Dean said they were challenged at PP&MS and to God be the glory, they have delivered.
Prof. Abdullahi emphasized that it is a pleasure to say there is Faculty of Environmental Design Phase II.
The commissioning was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Raymond Bako; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi; Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies; Prof. M.N Shuaibu; Ag. University Librarian, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Mohammed; and Dean Students Affairs Division, Prof. Sahalu Junaidu.
Others are Director, Institute of Administration, Prof. Abubakar Madaki; Ag. Chief Security Officer, Malam Ashiru T. Zango; and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Yusuf Mohammed.
