Veterinary Council of Nigeria inducts 38 ABU students

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria has inducted 38 students of Ahmadu Bello University into the profession at a colorful event held on Friday, 1st August, 2025 at the CBN Centre of Economics and Finance, ABU Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.

In an opening remark, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, congratulated the students for witnessing the occasion after years of study, hard work and dedication.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for being at the forefront in so many capacities advancing the university.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the students to uphold utmost professionalism in their practice and to always remember their alma mater by giving back in cash or in kind.

While congratulating the parents, guardians and teachers of the inductees, he wished them success in their future endeavours.

In an address, the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof Junaidu Kabir, thanked the Management for their support throughout his tenure that helped him record great successes.

Prof Kabir appreciated both the President and Registrar of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Prof Mathew Adamu and Dr Oladotun E. Fadipe, respectively for their unwavering support to the faculty.

The Dean commended the inductees for their dedication and the sacrifices of their parents which had all paid off. He also encouraged them to always give back to the institution that moulded them to become veterinary doctors.

Former Special Assistant to the late President Muhammadu Buhari on Disabilities, Dr Samuel Ankali, was the Guest Speaker at the occasion.

Dr Ankali urged the students to always strive for greatness while encouraging them to venture into different fields so as to have veterinary doctors in all corridors of power.

The oath was administered to the inductees by the Registrar, Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Dr. Oladotun E. Fadipe.

Highlight of the occasion was presentation of awards to invited guests as well as best graduating students Dr Hamza Isa with a 4.18 CGPA and Dr Rofiat Omotayo Olafimihan with a CGPA of 4.04.
