SPESSECE procures chillers to support ABU ICT services
Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communications Technology (IAIICT), Ahmadu Bello University, has taken delivery of chillers for replacement of the worn-out cooling systems of the institution’s data centre at the Network Infrastructure and Security (NIS).
The new cooling systems were procured by Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (SPESSECE).
The equipment, specifically designed for high-performance air-conditioning applications, are characterised by high efficiency, excellent reliability and low sound emissions.
The IAIICT took delivery of the chillers on Saturday, 18th April, 2026, at the Network Infrastructure and Security where the Data Centre is located.
The chillers, supplied by Triple Bullet Services Nigeria Ltd, were delivered safely and in good condition.
Prof Adamu Ahmed, the Vice-Chancellor, who inspected the cooling systems upon their delivery, was impressed with the intervention by the SPESSECE.
Ahmed expressed the university’s immense appreciation to the SPESSECE and the Centre Leader, Prof Wisdom S Japheth, for the gesture.
The Director, IAIICT, Prof E A Adedokun; Director, Distance Learning Centre, Prof M B Mu’azu; and Head of Network Infrastructure and Security, Musa Mohammed, received the Vice-Chancellor for the inspection.
The Director, IAIICT, Prof E A Adedokun, led the Vice-Chancellor round both the data centre and power room to see things for himself.
The IAIICT had through the office of the Vice-Chancellor requested the intervention of the SPESSECE for the procurement and replacement of the packed up cooling systems of the university data centre.
The procurement process was in accordance with the PPA 2007 and WB regulations by inviting bidders to bid and submit quotations and accompanying documents as required in the RFQ.
It would be recalled that the SPESSECE had last year procured a total of 10 lithium batteries to strengthen the power room of the university data centre.
The batteries, which are high-efficiency and long-lasting storage devices, are commonly used for solar power, inverters, and electronics.
