Sokoto indigenes in Zazzau delighted over Prof Sabo’s elevation as ABU Deputy Vice-Chancellor

The Sokoto State Indigenes Resident in Zazzau Association has felicitated with Prof Bello Sabo in recognition of his recent appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Ahmadu Bello University.

Members of the association visited Prof Sabo in his office in Samaru, Zaria on Wednesday, 29th October, 2025 to congratulate him.

Chairman of the association, Alhaji Salihu Dan Halima Santurakin Ambarura, expressed delight over Prof Sabo’s “well-deserved elevation”.

Alhaji Salihu described the association as a body comprising Sokoto indigenes resident across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, with members drawn from various professions and walks of life.

The association, according to him, always identified and celebrated indigenes who attained leadership positions in order to encourage and support them in their service to humanity.

Commending Prof Sabo’s outstanding record of service and commitment, Salihu cited instances where Prof Sabo facilitated access to state scholarships for Sokoto indigent students through his consultations with relevant authorities.

He further said the distinguished academic served as a mentor to many students and staff of Sokoto origin over the years.

In his response, Prof Bello Sabo thanked the association for the honour and goodwill visit.

Sabo commended the current leadership of the association for its efforts in sustaining unity among Sokoto indigenes in Zazzau and beyond.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor assured the association of his continuous support and cooperation in all its developmental efforts.

Prof Sabo urged members of the association to encourage younger Sokoto indigenes to pursue education with dedication and to seek admission into Ahmadu Bello University.

Sabo observed that the number of qualified candidates from the state applying to ABU was often below the available quota.

He, therefore, stressed the need for renewed interest in education among the youth.

The visit ended with prayers for continued success and progress for both the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the association.
