Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, on official visit to ABU today
The Hon. Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, is currently on an official visit to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The Minister is on a working visit to the university’s National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) today Wednesday, 21st January, 2026.
Before going to NAPRI in Shika, the Hon. Minister was first at the Senate of the university where he called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed.
Maiha, a distinguished alumnus of ABU, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception accorded him.
The Minister also appreciated the gathering of all the Principal Officers of the university to receive him.
He said he was always proud to identify himself with ABU and what the institution stands for, being one of the best universities in Nigeria.
According to him, ABU is home and they would continue to support the progress and development of the university.
Earlier in a remark, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, expressed delight receiving the Hon Minister.
Prof Ahmed further stated that he was pleased to receive the Special Assistant to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Livestock Matters, Prof Attahiru Jega, who accompanied the Minister.
The Vice-Chancellor said everyone that matters in the university were there to welcome the Hon Minister.
According to him, all relevant stakeholders were on board to continue to support the transformation of NAPRI as mandated by the Minister.
Those, who came with the Hon Minister, were Director, Ranch and Pastoral Resources Development Department, Ayuba Shekamang; and Director Animal Health and Reproductive Services, Dr Alao Mitchell.
Others were National Project Coordinator, LPRESS, Dr Sanusi Abubakar; and Special Assistant to the Hon Minister, Dr Gidado Muhammed, among others.
