Islamic Development Bank’s ex-Vice President, Dr Mansur Mukhtar, to speak at ABU conference
The erstwhile Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank, Dr Mansur Mukhtar, is among the frontline economists who will speak at the 3rd International Conference organised by the Department of Economics, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The conference, ‘Navigating Economic Resilience in Nigeria: Strategies for Growth and Stability’, is billed for Tuesday, 5th November, 2024.
According to the Chairman, Local Organising Committee for the conference, Prof M C Duru, the event is to take place at the CBN Centre for Economics and Finance, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Dr Mansur, a one time Minister of Finance and now Chairman of Board for the Bank of Industry (BOI), is expected to present a lead paper at the conference.
The President, Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Prof Adeola Adenikinju, and the Coordinator, Centre for Growth and Development, Ibadan, Prof Abdul-Ganiyu Ajani Garba, will give keynote lectures.
Both Adenikinju and Garba are former members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Director-General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Nigeria, Dr Baba Yusuf Musa, will also present a lead paper.
Former Vice-Chancellor, Veritas University, Abuja, Prof Mike Kwanashie, will chair the occasion while His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, the Emir of Zazzau, is expected to be the royal father of the day.
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Kabiru Bala, FNIOB, FSAN, is to declare the conference open.
The Head, Department of Economics, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Dahiru Suleiman, will be the host.
