Franco British International University to partner ABU for mentorship
The Vice-Chancellor/President of Franco British international University, Kaduna, Prof Sabo Abdullahi, has visited Ahmadu Bello University to seek mentorship for the new private university.
Prof Abdullahi, who paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, said his institution was granted license in 2023 but began operation in February 2025.
He said as an alumnus of ABU he deemed it fit for his Alma Mater to serve as the mentoring university for Franco British International University to make it a beacon of knowledge and excellence.
He added that ABU is taking extraordinary strides in technological advancements which is visible in how ABU keeps coming first in ICT competitions.
The Franco British International University team includes the Director, Linkages and Collaboration, Alhaji Umar Alkali; Dean of Student Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Mairinga; Dean of Nursing, Hajiya Karima Dan-Malam; Personal Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Ibrahim Jibril Aliyu; and Media Personnel; Alhassan Ayasa.
The private university, according to him, has very few departments and faculties. He said they hope to have more with the guidance and assistance of ABU.
He appreciated the management of ABU for their willingness to nurture upcoming universities.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, appreciated the new institution for choosing ABU as their mentoring university.
Prof Ahmed said ABU has mentored many universities within and even outside Nigeria, including Liberia, Gambia, Sudan, Niger and several others in different fields.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed ABU’s readiness to assist in advancing tertiary education.
He assured them of support in whatever capacity needed from access to staff, students and even facilities to help them grow.
The Vice-Chancellor was supported by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof Raymond Bako; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi.
Others present included the Director, Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof Bello Mukhtar and Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita, who is the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor.
