IPA in collaboration with ABU IDR&T organises high impact workshop for staff, students
Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) in collaboration with Institute for Development Research and Training (IDR&T), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has organised a high impact workshop for academic staff and postgraduate students of the University.
The workshop, with the aim of building the capacity of young researchers, was held at the CBN Centre for Economics and Finance, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Speaking at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, thanked IPA for finding the University worthy of carrying out the workshop.
Prof. Bala decried the low level of research output from the social sciences and humanities, stressing that researchers within those faculties need to make their researches more visible.
According to him, most the researches the University showcased at the recent Times Higher Education (THE) ranking were Science based.
The Vice-Chancellor commended IDRT&T for achieving collaborations with IPA and wished all participants a fruitful session throughout the workshop.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Director, IDR&T, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Salihu, expressed gratitude to IPA for bringing the workshop to ABU, saying that it is the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria.
Dr. Salihu noted that participants were selected based rigorous scrutiny of the concept notes sent by each of them.
The Director thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their unwavering support towards the development of the Institute.
In a closing remark, the Head, Department of Economics, Prof. Dahiru Suleiman, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, IDR&T and all participants for availing themselves for the workshop session.
The HOD prayed for a continuous collaboration between the University and IPA.
