International Students Association honours ABU Vice-Chancellor
Members of the Executive Council of International Students Association of Nigeria (ISA), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Chapter, have presented a plague to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
The presentation was made when the members paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor.
Presenting the plague, the President of the Association, Comrade Salihou Moussa Idi, disclosed that they deemed necessary to honour the Vice-Chancellor in appreciation of the scholarships awarded to them.
Comrade Idi stated that since the Vice-Chancellor assumed office, the plights of so many international students had been salvaged.
According to him, the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management had stood and were still standing with them despite the difficult times.
He thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their unwavering support and prayed for the prosperity of the University.
Responding, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, appreciated the international students for their kind gesture, which he described as “best of its kind”.
Prof. Bala noted that Africa was the centre-piece of Nigeria’s foreign policy, stressing that the Nigerian civil war was fought largely because of the assistance rendered to Nigeria by the Niger Republic.
The Vice-Chancellor said that ABU had a strong alumni in Niger and Chad.
According to him, ABU trained a lot of people from Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, adding that the University’s alumni were also doing well in Eastern Africa.
Prof. Bala expressed gratitude to the students and encouraged them to continue to be proud of ABU anywhere they find themselves.
Those, who supported the Vice-Chancellor in receiving the plague, were Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi; Dean, Students Affairs Division, Prof. Sahalu B. Junaidu; Director IAIICT, Malam Shuaibu Umar; and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Yusuf Mohammed.
