IIOE trains ABU security personnel on cybercrime, digital forensics

A good number of security personnel of Ahmadu Bello University have undergone a hands-on training on cybercrime and basic digital forensics.

The three-day training workshop was organised by the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE), Nigeria National Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

It took place at the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE) from 29th – 31st
July, 2025.

According to the training objectives, the effort was to build foundational knowledge of computers and internet use for the security personnel.

It was to also raise awareness of common cybercrimes affecting universities as well as introduce basic digital forensics tools and procedures.

The three-day training which was facilitated by Dr Bashir H Sani and Nasir L Aminu, was to equip security personnel to support incident reporting and evidence preservation.

The University Acting Chief Security Officer, Malam Ashiru T. Zango, who declared the training workshop open, thanked University Management, IIOE, and the facilitators for the training.

Zango also urged the Management to maintain the tempo by sponsoring more different training to boost the morale and capacity of its security personnel.

Equally, he urged the security personnel to utilise the skills and take their responsibility seriously by striving to protect lives and properties in the university.
