IAEA donates research equipment worth N264m to ABU Centre for Energy Research
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has donated laboratory equipment and research materials to the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), Ahmadu Bello University.
The donation was under the auspices of IAEA Technical Cooperation (TC) Project NIR-5042 for the implementation of the programme.
This was contained in a letter notifying the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, of the development by the Director, Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT), Prof S A Jonah.
According to Prof Jonah, the equipment include x-ray fluorescence elemental anayler and laboratory glass wares worth N114 million.
Others are AAS and associated facilities that include frame photometer, REDOX, centrifuge, fame hood biobased, thermo scientific spectrometers, hot plate, and magnetic stirrer. They are estimated at N150 million.
The centre, according to the Director, would take delivery of the equipment from Austria early next year.
The CERT director explained that the centre was in possession of the letters of purchase from IAEA.
