Governor Radda to declare open ABU conference on African Indigenous Languages Oct 29

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dr Dikko Umar Radda, will declare open the forthcoming international conference on African Indigenous Languages billed to hold at Ahmadu Bello University from 29th-30th October, 2024.

Governor Radda will declare the conference open in his capacity as the Special Guest of Honour at the two-day occasion.

The conference is put together by the Department of African Languages and Cultures, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Former Vice-Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, Prof Muhammad Tijjani Bande, will deliver the keynote address at the conference.

His Highness the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, CFR will be the royal father of the day.

Magajin Rafin Zazzau and District Head of Yakawada in Giwa local government area of Kaduna State, Prof Ango Abdullahi, is expected to chair the occasion.

Prof Abdullahi is the former Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof Kabiru Bala, FSAN, FNIOB, will be the host.

Lead paper presenters at the conference include Prof Ahmadu Bello Zaria, Kaduna State University; Prof Imelda Umoh, President Linguistics Association of Nigeria; Dr. BSY Al-hassan, Department of African Languages and Cultures, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The conference, ‘Indigenous African Languages as Instruments for Viable Development’, will take place at the CBN Center for Economics and Finance, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The event is expected to bring together participants from all over the globe with a view to complementing the various efforts in the scientific, technological and industrial development of Africa.
