ABU counseling centre organises talk on implications of examination misconduct
Counseling and Human Development Centre, Ahmadu Bello University in conjunction with and Students Support Associates (SSA), has organised a one day talk on examination misconduct.
The event, which took place on Thursday, 10th September, 2026, was to sensitize students of the university on the implications of examination misconduct ahead of their Second Semester examination billed to begin on Monday, 14th September, 2026.
In his remarks at the occasion, the Dean of Students, Prof Sahalu Junaidu, said the workshop was to stress the implications of examination misconduct.
Prof Junaidu said it was sad to have students at any level jeopardize their stay in the university after being caught engaging in examination misconduct.
He charged the students to do all within their power to keep away from examination misconduct as it is better to spill than be withdrawn.
In her opening remarks, the Director Councelling and Human Development Centre, Prof Hadiza Ahmed Tukur, called on students to embrace hard work and integrity which will go a long way in guiding their stay in the university and beyond.
Examination misconduct, according to her, is one act that can derail a student’s course of life.
She called on students to prepare well, ahead of their upcoming examinations and resolve not to participate in any activity that is against the laid down rules of the university.
In another remark, the Director, Academic Planing and Monitoring, Prof Bello Mukhtar, commended the the efforts of Student Affairs Division and Councelling and Human Development Centre for improving the well being of students and ensuring they graduate without hitches.
He called on students to prepare adequately and not take things for granted to avoid being involved in examination misconduct.
In an effort to curb examination misconduct, Mukhtar said the university adopted the the use of scanners for checking students into examination halls to avert a situation that may arise due to forgetfulness or carelessness.
He emphasized that the examination guidelines are written behind every students exam card so they read and abide by them.
While wishing the students a successful examination, the chairperson Comittee of Deans and Directors, Prof Maryam Aminu, warned students that no examination is worth compromising their integrity and future.
She urged them not to allow fear of failure push them to jeopardize their academic pursuit.
There were talks on “Consequences of Examination Misconduct” by Dr Muhammad Nasa’i; Psychological and “Academic Effects of Examination Misconduct” by Dr Haruna Muhammmad; “Preparing to Pass Without Cheating” by Dr Sulaiman Omeiza; and “Practical Study Skills” by Dr Jamila Shehu Shika.
