Global scholars to speak at 2nd ODeLAN conference in ABU billed for 21st – 24th April

Global scholars, including Prof. Rambo Charles Mallans of University of Nairobi, Kenya; and Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede from National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), will speak at the 2nd ODeLAN International Conference 2024 billed to hold at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 21st – 24th April, 2024.

Other scholars expected to speak at the four-day international conference included Dr. Michael Gallagher from University of Edinburgh, UK; and Dr. Suleiman Babatunde Ramon-Yusuf of University of Abuja.

The conference, christened “Inclusive Digital Learning Ecosystems in Open, Distance and e-Learning Education”, is put together by Open, Distance and e-Learning Associati0on of Nigeria (ODeLAN) in collaboration with Distance Learning Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. It is to hold at the Assembly Hall, ABU, Samaru Main Campus, Zaria.

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, will declare open the conference with the Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, as Chairman of the Occasion.

His Highness, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, the Emir of Zazzau, will serve as the ‘Royal Father of the Day’, while the President, Open, Distance and e-Learning Association of Nigeria (ODeLAN), Prof. Francis Egbokhare, will be the host.

According to the conference flyer released by the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Prof. Ibrahim Mohammed Sule, who is the Director, Distance Learning Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the participants will discuss a total of 13 conference sub-themes at the four-day event. .

Some of the conference sub-themes are inclusive pedagogy and equity, curriculum and courseware development in a digital learning ecosystem; policies and practices in open, distance and e-learning; and facilitation and instruction.

They also include artificial intelligence, (AI); quality assurance; copyright and plagiarism; learner support services; as well as remote proctoring and assessment of online learning.

Others are e-learning competences for instructional designers and courses with micro-credentials; critical issues in open, distance and e-learning as well as governance, management and sustainability of open, distance and e-learning lifelong learning and digital literacy for open, distance and e-learning.

The participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, 21st April, 2024, while the pre-conference workshop and opening ceremony, at which Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) will give a keynote address, will take place on Monday, 22nd April, 2024.
