Finance industry top players seek ABU’s expertise
Some top players of Nigeria’s finance industry have come to Ahmadu Bello University for practical solutions to issues surrounding the sector.
The Chairman, Board of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Malam Mairiga Aliyu Katuka, announced this when he led a delegation of top finance experts on a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed.
They were in Ahmadu Bello University for the 1st International Conference organised by the Department of Finance.
Those on the delegation for the courtesy call included a member of the Investment and Security Tribunal, Dr Ahmad Sulaiman.
Others were Executive Director, Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Dr Kabiru Katata; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, AMCON, Muhammad Toafeeq; and Special Assistant to the Managing Director, NDIC, Dr Idris M Idris.
Katuka commended ABU for having the first of its kind conference which he described as timely.
He also said that the conference was coming at a time when Nigeria’s President “signed an Act which allows the securities and exchange commission go after those operating ponzi schemes”.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, appreciated the team for coming to the right place to get solutions.
He commended the Department of Finance for pushing forward the values of Ahmadu Bello University which included nation building.
The Vice-Chancellor was assisted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond Bako, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita in receiving the delegation.
