FG selects ABU among few institutions to pilot TTTP
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has been selected as one of the few institutions to pilot the implementation of the Technical Teacher Training Programme (TTTP) in order to engage the Nigerian youth in vocational training.
This was disclosed by a team of officials from the Federal Ministry of Education team, when they called on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kabiru Bala.
The officials came to the university for a facility tour and validation exercise in preparation for the programme.
The team leader, Mrs. Olaniyan Gbemisola, expressed appreciation to Vice-Chancellor for sharing his experiences that will make the programme a sustainable and successful one.
She explained that the federal government is looking at the possibility of starting the TTTP in full scale “with the availability of teaching staff, equipment and curriculum witnessed in the University”.
“I have no doubt ABU is more than capable”, she stressed.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, thanked the delegation for finding ABU worthy for the programme.
The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Provost, College of Medical Sciences, Prof. M.S Shehu, assured the team of the University’s commitment towards the actualisation of the programme.
