Ex-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, urges ABU’s new VC to remain focused and straightforward
• Says the University needs leadership, development, and progress
Former Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, has called on the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, to be straightforward, focused, and carry everyone along in steering the affairs of the University.
Mustapha, who is Chairman, Committee for the Implementation of Proposed Trust University of Nigeria, gave the advice when he led members of the committee on a courtesy visit to Prof. Ahmed to congratulate him on assuming office as ABU’s 13th Vice-Chancellor.










Prof. Ahmed is an active member of the Committee for the Implementation of Trust University of Nigeria having contributed a lot for the realisation of the private institution.
The former Vice-Chancellor described office of the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University as a hot seat and expressed confidence that Prof. Ahmed was equal to the task.
He said that the University needed leadership, development and progress, pointing out that with Prof. Ahmed at the helm of affairs, ABU would receive much more and everything that would take the institution to greater heights.
The former Vice-Chancellor also spoke on the Phase II of the University, a project which he described as “a very important concept”, saying that the place should be built to decongest the Phase I that had already been developed.
Apparently acknowledging the many challenges being faced by the University, Prof. Mustapha was hopeful that with Prof. Ahmed’s exposure and wide connections, the task would be achievable.
The committee later presented a congratulatory letter to the Vice-Chancellor and prayed to God to guide him in running the University.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, described members of the Committee for the Implementation of the proposed Trust University of Nigeria as elders who had committed a lot for the development of Ahmadu Bello University.
On the Phase II of the University, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the project was a very important legacy that was started during the tenure of Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha and assured that his administration would do its best to develop the place.
Prof. Ahmed, who thanked Prof. Mustapha and other members of the committee for the visit and advice, said that ABU would give all the necessary support towards the establishment and development of Trust University of Nigeria to further boost education in the North and Nigeria as a whole.
Members of the delegation led by the Committee Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, included former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Adm nitration, Prof. Ibrahim Na’iya Sada; former Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi; and Head of Department of Building, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. A.D. AbdulAzeez.
Others were Arc. Lawal Yankara, QS Yahaya Abubakar, Surveyor Haruna Yaro Ngulde, and Malam Abdullahi Haruna.
The Vice-Chancellor was in company of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi; and representative of the Registrar, Dr. Aliyu Dalha Kankia when he received members of the Committee.
Others present during the visit were Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Yusuf Mohammed.
