Contractor hands over ABU ACENPEE new building to Management
Afribase Nig. Ltd, the firm that handled the construction of the permanent site for the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE), Ahmadu Bello University, has handed over the new building to the University Governing Council and Management after completion of the project.
Speaking at a brief ceremony, the Centre Leader. Prof. Raymond B Bako, disclosed that the centre is a World Bank project which was attracted through tremendous hard work.
Prof. Bako, who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, stated that the building would be inspected by the World Bank, saying that if it satisfies their standard, the centre will attract another grant of 300,000 US Dollars.
He noted that the centre had over the years made good utilisation of the attracted grants which come in trenches.
Prof. Bako thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their unwavering support towards the smooth operations of the centre.
In a remark, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Ahmadu Bello University Governing Council, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed CFR, reiterated the need for ABU to attract more research grants and make good use of them.
Alhaji Yayale commended the Centre Leader for his resilience and commitment towards the success of the project.
The Chairman said the “project is substantially completed and it is now handed over to the Council appropriately.”
Also speaking Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, appreciated the Centre Leader and all staff of the research centre for the success of the project.
Prof. Bala presented the project certificate to the Chairman of the Governing Council.
The event was attended by the Principal Officers of the University.and members of the University Governing Council.
