Cameroonian scholar visits ABU, seeks collaboration for Garoua varsity
Cameroonian scholar, Prof Roukatou Aboubakar, today visited Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and sought academic collaboration with the institution.
Prof Roukatou, who was on a working visit to ABU, said she came to the institution to facilitate academic collaboration for the University of Garoua (UGa), Cameroon, where she teaches.
The scholar is the Dean of Economics and Management at the Cameroonian university.
Speaking when she called on the Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Sani Abba Aliyu, the visiting scholar explained that the collaboration would largely be on joint research activities and exchange of academic staff.
Other areas of collaboration, according to her, include exchange of postgraduate and undergraduate students, as well as conferences, workshops and publications.
Prof. Roukatou expressed confidence that the academic pact would foster development and mutually beneficial relationships between the two African universities.
Responding, the Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Sani Abba Aliyu, appreciated the Cameroonian university for its willingness to collaborate with ABU, Zaria.
The Director, who was represented by the Deputy Director, Advancement, Dr. Muhammed Lawal Tafida, said ABU would be ready to work for the success of the collaboration.
Prof Aliyu believed that the collaboration would definitely foster a mutually beneficial academic partnership between the two institutions.
The Director said ABU would prepare a draft of the academic agreement for the management of Garoua University to study before the final signing of the MoU by both parties.
He expressed the University’s support towards the establishment of a stronger ABU Alumni in Cameroun and for networking with other alumni in the diaspora.
The Director was assisted in receiving the Cameroonian scholar by the Alumni Relations Officer, Malam Bashir Munir; Assistant Alumni Relations Officer, Mr. Evans Womeodu Asobinuanwu; and the Directorate’s Communication Officer, Hafsat Ibrahim.
