Notice of Entrance Examination for Diploma Programmes

The Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, cordially invites all prospective candidates to the Entrance Examination for admission into its Diploma Programmes.

Details of the Examination:
Venue: CBT Center, Opposite Gymnasium, ABU Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Date: Thursday, 19th December 2024.
Time: 8:00 AM (prompt).

Candidates are required to:
1. Arrive at the examination venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
2. Come with the following:
  - A copy of the application form (mandatory).
  - Writing materials and any other necessary documents as specified during the application process.

ACENPEE holds seminar on gender-based violence

The Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE), in collaboration with Gender Policy Unit, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, organized a one-day seminar on ‘Gender-Based Violence and Environmental Safety on Campus’ held today (13th June, 2024) at the University Assembly Hall, Main Campus.

The seminar was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Raymond Bako, who is also the Director, ACENPEE.

Prof. Bala expressed delight for bringing back the academic discourse, information dissemination and knowledge sharing, saying that the seminar would be a guide for students on how to protect and conduct themselves so as to avoid occurrence of any act of abuse and harassment.

In a brief overview on ACENPEE, the Director, Prof. Raymond Bako, said the Centre is a World Bank project. He explained that the project comprises of a number of DLIs. Gender safety falls under DLI 7 which was the reason behind the centre collaborating on this subject matter.

He said that ACENPEE also supports many aspects of teaching and learning and makes commitment toward safety of staff and students of the University.

The Chairman of the Seminar, Prof. Bala Babaji, described the theme as topical and significant going by the present situation on University Campuses.

He congratulated the Centre and Gender Policy Unit for the foresight in organising the seminar and hoped that it would give more light on gender-based violence and environmental safety.

The lead paper presenters are Prof. Binta Abdulkarim, Gender Officer, ACENPEE; Prof. Eugenia C. Akpa, Coordinator for the University Gender Policy Unit; Prof. Fatima B. Ibrahim, Environmental and Social Safeguards Officer, ACENPEE; and Mrs. Juliana H. Joseph, Pioneer Centre Manager, Salama Sexual Assault Kaduna.
