ABU VC appreciates Kaduna State Government, Nigerian Army, NPF, NSCDC, other security agencies
… For assisting the varsity at a very critical time
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Kabiru Bala, has appreciated the Kaduna State Government, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, and other security agencies for assisting the institution at a very critical time.
Bala expressed the institution’s appreciation to the security agencies during a meeting of the University Senate held today (Thursday 24th April, 2025).
Prof Bala stated that he took over the leadership of the University at a time when there were serious security challenges around some of host communities.
At that time, according to him, the then Inspector General of Police, who is an alumnus of the University, helped a lot in coming to the rescue of the institution.
He said the then Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, and the Commandant of the Nigerian Civil Security and Defense Corps had also contributed significantly towards addressing the security challenges faced by the University.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the Kaduna State Government and the then Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, had equally provided the University with all the necessary support during that challenging time.
Prof Bala thanked them and described the gesture as best of its kind.
