ABU students win Second Place at International Youth Debates and Case Championships

A team of students from Ahmadu Bello University have won a Second Place in an entrepreneurial competencies competition that was held at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.

The competition, which was organised by the International Youth Debates and Case Championships, took place on 29th April, 2025.

ABU’s presentation, ‘Project AgroGuardians’, was made by three students that made the team from the University with Dr Zaharaddeen Haruna as scientific supervisor.

The students that represented ABU at the international competition were Hadiza Mohammad, Safiyanu Ibrahim, and Dondu Lawan Haruna.

The prize for the First Place was shared between teams from the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design as well as Lyceum No. 9 Harmony, Obolonskyi District, Kyiv.

The Third Place went to Mingachevir State University, Azerbaijan.

The winners of the International Youth Debates and Case Championships were offered the opportunity to attend a one-week summer business school at the University of Foggia, Italy.

The event was initiated to foster the development of entrepreneurial competencies among senior high school students, college students, and students of higher education institutions.

The key objectives of the competition were to stimulate analytical thinking, decision-making abilities under uncertainty, risk management skills, and effective team work.

During the competition, a total of over 50 startup projects from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Africa were presented.
