The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has expressed willingness to work closely with members of the University Senate.
Prof Ahmed, who took over the mantle of leadership of the institution last week, made this known during his inaugural address at a special meeting of the University Senate that was held today (Tuesday, 6th May, 2025).

The new Vice-Chancellor said that he was committed to work with the institution’s Senate which he described as the academic engine room of the University.
Prof Ahmed also assured that he would not take it lightly on its responsibilities and promised to fully work with it in the formulation and implementation of policies that would shape ABU’s academic future.
“I will seek the Senate’s wisdom, support and constructive scrutiny on matters of curriculum, academic standards, admissions, research policy and student affairs”, Prof Ahmed said.
Ahmed further said that together they would uphold the integrity of the institution’s degrees and ensure that ABU’s graduates were not only employable but also globally competitive and socially responsible.
He sought the support of all as the future of ABU was a collective project that would make it to be globally respected, locally impactful, financially stable, intellectually vibrant and socially relevant.
Prof Ahmed called on the Senate to help build a University where best ideas would be nurtured, graduates would walk tall on any global platform and the dreams of its founding fathers were fulfilled in this generation.
