ABU rejoices with Emir of Zazzau over peaceful Sallah celebrations
• As it condoles with royal father over demise of District Head of Ikara
Members of Ahmadu Bello University Management today (Monday, 15th April, 2024) paid Sallah homage to His Highness, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, the Emir of Zazzau, in his palace inside Zaria City.
The Management delegation, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, rejoiced with the Emir for the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast and peaceful Sallah celebrations all over the Zazzau Emirate.
They also condoled with His Highness, the Emir and the Emirate over the demise yesterday (Sunday, 14th April, 2024) of Walin Zazzau and District Head of Ikara, Engr. Aminu Umar.
A condolence letter read at the Emir’s Palace by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Management, Staff and Students of the University expressed the institution’s “heartfelt condolence to His Highness, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, LLD and the entire members of Zazzau Emirate Council”.
“The Management, Staff, and Students of Ahmadu Bello University learned with a heavy heart the demise of Engr. Aminu Umar, the Walin Zazzau and District Head of Ikara, which occurred on Sunday 14th April, 2024”, it said.
The Vice-Chancellor said that they recalled “fondly the inspirational leadership qualities of the late Engr. Aminu Umar, particularly on the development of his immediate community and the Zazzau Emirate”.
Prof. Bala, who described the deceased as “an exemplary leader”, prayed to Allah (SWT) to make Aljanna Firdaus his final abode and give His Highness, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Receiving the University Management team, His Highness, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, the Emir of Zazzau, expressed the Emirate’s immense gratitude to the institution for the homage and condolences.
The Emir described the late Walin Zazzau as a “nice person” who contributed enormously towards the development of the Emirate, Kaduna State, and all other places where he worked.
Members of the University Management team that accompanied the Vice-Chancellor to the palace were the Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila; the Ag. University Librarian, Dr. Abdulhamid L. Gambo; the Dean of Students, Prof. Muhammad Fatihu Yakasai; and the Director, University Health Services, Prof. M.S. Isah.
They also included the Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar; the Director, Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT); and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Malam Auwal Yusuf Mohammed.
