ABU moves to upgrade its park and gardens to standard

Ahmadu Bello University is making moves to upgrade its park and gardens to a world-class standard as the institution is in talks with the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and Royal Botanical Garden, Kew, London towards the realisation of the project.

The development followed a series of meetings with the top officials of the UK’s Royal Gardens when the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, visited the two famous royal gardens.

Modalities for the collaboration with the royal gardens on exchange of knowledge, ideas, and technology towards transforming the ABU Park and Gardens were thoroughly discussed at the meetings.

The Vice-Chancellor had, during the visits, met with the Regius Keeper and Chief Executive of Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), Dr. Simon Milne; Director of Science, Prof. Pete Hollingsworth; and Research Collections and Project Manager, Dr. Sadie Barber at the RBGE.

Similarly, Prof. Bala met with the Dr. Simon Toomer, the Curator of the Living Collections when he and his entourage paid a visit to the Royal Botanical Garden, Kew, London.

During the visits, the Vice-Chancellor was in company of the Director, Division of Agricultural Colleges (DAC), Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Musa Abdullahi Mahadi; DAC Linkages Coordinator, Dr. Usman Ibrahim; and DAC’s Dr. Emmanuel Opoola.
