ABU, CAC sign MoU on entrepreneurship

Ahmadu Bello University and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on entrepreneurship.

The signing of the MoU took place on Friday, 19th December, 2025 at the Distance Learning Centre (DLC) Board Room, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.

The MoU would focus on how to develop entrepreneurial activities in the country.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Head of the Kaduna Northern Office of the CAC, AbdulKadir Modibbo, explained that all their state offices were to liaise with tertiary institutions in their respective states on development of entrepreneurial activities in the country.

Modibbo stated that the CAC had an amendment in its laws that said they must capture and register every conceivable business in the country.

He said on the other hand, universities were also having a change on their educational policy trust, whereby entrepreneurial studies are entrenched into their curriculum.

According to Modibbo, before the coming of COVID-19, one could hardly hear of entrepreneurial studies in most institutions, but looking at the challenges youths faced in finding jobs, it became a matter of concern to ensure that they were engaged.

He emphasized that introducing entrepreneurial studies in tertiary institutions would afford students a lots of skills on how to run their livelihood after graduation.

He said they were at ABU in order to assist the institution to graduate students not just found worthy in character and learning, but also with skills and to ensure that their mandates were holistically carried out in every sector.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, disclosed that it was a very exciting moment for the University, given that times had changed, students needed to graduate and have something to do.

Prof Ahmed noted that thinking of what skills students should be given should not be after they had graduated, rather it should be when they were in school.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the CAC and assured them that they would have a very noble partner in executing the project.

He lauded the achievements of the CAC Registrar, stressing that it was an important reform and that the University would support him wholeheartedly.

Those, who witnessed the signing of the MoU, included Registrar, Rabiu Samaila; Director, Distance Learning Centre, Prof M B Muazu; and Director, Legal Unit Directorate, Prof Abubakar Ishaq.
