ABU Botany Department commissions mini computer lab
The Department of Botany, Faculty of Life Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, has commissioned a mini computer laboratory.
The facility was commissioned at the Department today, Wednesday, 4th June 2025.
Speaking at the occasion, the Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof Maryam Aminu, commended the Department for setting the pace for other Departments in the faculty.
Prof Maryam said that having the computers would ease the stress of marking scripts and assist students in carrying out their assignments, research and projects.
She called on all Heads of Department to emulate the Department of Botany in order to aid learning and research in the Faculty.











Earlier in her address, the Head, Department of Botany, Prof Ramatu Aliyu, explained that the mini computer laboratory was a significant milestone in the development of the Department.
Prof Ramatu also said that the computer laboratory was made possible due to the magnanimous contributions of some staff members of the Department.
She disclosed that Prof A K Adamu and Prof S B Bako donated four computers each, and the Department procured four, while the Centre Leader of the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (SPESSE), Prof W S Japhet, donated the internet connectivity.
Also speaking, Prof A K Adamu expressed delight for being part of the contributors.
Prof Adamu said that the contributions became necessary, especially in this era of artificial intelligence.
He stressed the need for all of them to come to the aid of students and staff of the Department.
Prof Adamu prayed for the Head of Department to bring more initiatives that would move the Department forward.
Goodwill messages were delivered by senior Professors of the Department.
