ABU appreciates alumni for contributions to national, regional, and global developments

Ahmadu Bello University, at its 63rd anniversary that was held on 4th October, 2025, celebrated its numerous alumni whose impact is felt across the globe.

At the low key celebration, the university listed former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, as well as former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo as its distinguished alumni.

Others whose contributions were equally acknowledged included former Chief Justices of Nigeria, governors, ministers, legislators, captains of industry, and prominent traditional rulers across the country.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, said at a press conference, marking the 63rd anniversary of the university that ABU alumni stood out nationally, regionally, and globally.

“We are proud of the current Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Dr Tajuddeen Abbas, an outstanding alumnus of this great institution for his concern for the university.

“We equally recognise the support we continue to receive from our host, the Governor of Kaduna State, and the Governors of Zamfara and Katsina, both alumni of the university”, Prof Ahmed said.

The Vice-Chancellor, who challenged the alumni on the institution’s vision and mission, appreciated the alumni who continued to stand by the university in diverse ways.

“I must also challenge our alumni community. The Sardauna gave you opportunity, and now it is time to give back.

“You have the resources, the talent, and the strategic position to change the narrative of ABU. What is needed is the will”, he also said.

The Vice-Chancellor then called on all alumni of the university to step up through endowment gifts, annual giving, and generous donations, to secure ABU future for the generations yet to come.
