Galaxy Backbone visits ABU for partnership
A team from Galaxy Backbone Limited, led by Dr Abdulmumini Usman, has paid a working visit to Ahmadu Bello university for partnership.
They visited the institution in Zaria today (Tuesday, 20th May, 2025)
Dr Usman told the Vice-chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, when the team first called on the latter that the company was pleased to have ABU aboard its network.
He outlined some of the major benefits ABU would stand to gain from the partnership that include elimination of licensing costs and cost of power.





The leader of the delegation also described the partnership as a step in the right direction.
Earlier, the Director, Iya Abubakar Institute of ICT (IAIICT), Malam Shuaibu Umar, said the partnership would improve the quality of internet services in the university and reduce down times.
Elaborating on the partnership, Umar also described Galaxy BackBone as a great ICT company, as at present it covered 28 states and has a tier 4 data centre in Kano.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, thanked the ICT company for swiftly responding to ABU’s request.
Prof Ahmed stated that network connectivity was a necessity for smooth running of the institution and reducing down times.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, said although ABU was the first university to build its own data centre, it now saw the need to get a back up under the partnership with Galaxy Backbone.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond B Bako, said he was looking forward to the partnership as it would improve the quality of network services in the university.
In his remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Aliyu Sanusi Rafindadi, welcomed the development and prayed for a sustainable and exceptional project.
