ABU VC attends sensitisation meeting for stakeholders of technical teachers training advisory c’ttee
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has attended the Annual Sensitization Meeting for Stakeholders and Members of Technical Teachers Training Advisory Committee organised by the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Vice-Chancellor, was represented at the meeting by the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. H. I Bayero.
The meeting was organised with the purpose of implementing the Technical Teacher Training Programme.
The Training Programme with the theme; “Developing 21st Century Technical Teachers: Preparing for Future”, took place at the Conference Hall of the Ministry in Abuja today (Wednesday, 16th October, 2024).
Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, while declaring the event open, reiterated the Ministry’s vision to revolutionize the education sector for a rapidly changing world.
The Minister stated that there is urgent need to equip technical teachers with skills, knowledge and attitudes required to prepare students for challenges and opportunities of 21st Century.
The programme was geared towards upgrading teachers that impart technical, science mathematical knowledge and vocational skills to students, to meet the needs of the labour market and thereby contributing to the economic development of Nigeria.
Furthermore, the sensitization programme was aimed at bringing various stakeholders of technical teachers training programme, in order to gather information that can be applied towards the improvement of the programme.
