The Senate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria has congratulated staff members and the University on winning the German patents from six inventions and getting national and international appointments.
The felicitation was contained in the Senate Resolutions of its 538th (Regular) Meeting held on Thursday, 25th July, 2024.
The Senate also felicitated with the University for emerging second overall winner of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) 4th National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award with a prize of N75 million.
It further congratulated the institution on emerging Best Performing ICT Academy Support Centre (iASC) in Sub-Saharan Africa and upgrade to a global status at the Huawei iASC.
The Senate also rejoiced with the Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion for its inclusion among the sites for Sickle Pan African Research Consortium Nigeria Network (SPARC-Net) in Nigeria.
It felicitated with 25 staff promoted to the rank of Professor and 20 Reader/Principal Research Fellow.
The Senate noted with satisfaction the security measures put in place by the University Security Division to check human and vehicular traffic in and out of the University aimed at safeguarding lives.
On the approaches taken to address electricity supply, the Senate emphasized on the need for Faculties in collaboration with the Directorate of Advancement and International Education (DAIE) to mobilize alumni to join in the efforts by giving back to the University for its sustainable development.
The Senate urged that Deans and Heads of Department should remind staff members to ensure that they switch off all lights and appliances when closing from work.
