ABU procures 15 motorcycles for its Security Services Department

Ahmadu Bello University has acquired 15 brand-new motorcycles for the institution’s Security Services Department in order to enhance the daily security operations on the campuses of the University.

Commissioning the motorcycles at the security headquarters at the Main Campus at Samaru in Zaria on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, explained that the procurement of the motorcycles was part of efforts by the University to ensure proactive measures in safeguarding lives and properties of its inhabitants in addition to assisting neighbouring communities.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Ag. Chief Security Officer for the University, Malam Ashiru T. Zango, said that the motorcycles should also be used for “effective patrol of the University environment” as well as for “swift response to distress calls”.

Prof. Bala urged the Security Department to ensure that the motorcycles were handled with proper care and maintained to serve the purpose for which they were procured.
Earlier in his remarks, the Ag. Chief Security Officer, Malam Ashiru T. Zango, expressed gratitude to the University for the gesture despite its lean resources, saying that the motorcycles would greatly enhance the security operations on the campuses.
Malam Zango assured the University Management that the motorcycles would be put to good use to serve the purpose for which they were provided.

The Ag. CSO, however, urged for more of such gesture given the huge size of the University comprising Samaru and Kongo campuses, Arewa House and School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS), Funtua.
