Institute of Education holds national conference on research and development
The Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, has organised a four-day national conference on research and development, which began on Tuesday, 6th March, 2024 at the institution, Assembly Hall, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
The 3rd national conference, “Research for Development through Educational Agencies and Institutions in Nigeria: Challenges and Way Forward”, was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
Prof. Bala said that the conference theme was timely due to the needs of government and stakeholders in improving quality of education in the country.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed the hope that the conference would be an avenue to scholars and students to brainstorm and come up with a better solution in education sector. He commended the Institute in taking the lead in discharging its mandate in research.
In his keynote address, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Prof. Paulinus Chijioke Okwelle, stressed the importance of research to educational agencies and institutions.
The Chairman of the Conference, the Director General of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, Prof. Musa Garba Maitafsir, said education of today emphasized on entrepreneurial skills, rather than certificate.
In his address, the Director, Institute of Education, Prof. Bashir Maina, expressed immense appreciation to the lead paper presenter, participants and the University Management for their tremendous support. He also thanked the Chairman, Prof. Maitafsir, for his contribution to the education system.
The lead paper presenters are Prof. Mohammed Umar Sanda, Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, who spoke on “Research for Development Through Agencies of Primary Level of Education in Nigeria: Challenges and Way Forward”, and Prof. Maicibi Alhas Nok, who talked on “Research for Development Through Post Primary Level of Education in Nigeria.”
