ABU signs 10-year agreement with Japanese varsity for academic cooperation
Ahmadu Bello University has signed a 10-year agreement with Yamaguchi University, Japan for the development of academic and educational cooperation as well as promotion of mutual understanding.
The pact between the two universities was concluded in Japan yesterday when the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed and the President, Yamaguchi University, Dr Tanizawa Yukio signed the deal.
The agreement is valid for a period of 10 years from the signature date of the representatives of both universities. It may be renewed after being reviewed and renegotiated by both parties.
Both parties agreed to develop collaborative activities in academic areas of mutual interest on a basis of equality and reciprocity.
According to the agreement, such collaborative academic activities will center on exchange of faculty members, researchers, and administrative staff.
They also include exchange of students, collaborative research projects, lectures and symposia, exchange of academic information and materials as well as promotion of other academic cooperation.
The development and implementation of specific activities based on the agreement will be separately negotiated and agreed on between the faculties, schools or institutes, which are to carry out the specific activities.
According to the pact, where opportunities arise, both institutions shall leverage their respective competitive advantages to provide mutual support or collaborate on grant acquisition initiative to foster the partnership.
