ABU Management condoles with Prof Raymond Bako over wife’s death
Members of the Management of Ahmadu Bello University have condoled with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof Raymond B Bako, over the death of his wife, Mrs Cecilia R Bako.
Mrs Bako, who retired as a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) with the Kaduna State Ministry of Health in 2016, died on 10th December, 2025.
Prof Ahmed led members of the University Management to condole with Prof Bako at the Chapel of Redemption, Ahmadu Bello University, Samaru, Zaria, where a valedictory/funeral service was held.
The valedictory/funeral service took place today (Thursday, 18th December, 2025) with hundreds of sympathizers in attendance.
Members of the university management were received by elders of the Chapel, including the Chaplain, Chapel of Redemption, ABU, Zaria, Rev. Michael A Gwems; and Bishop Ishaya G Baba of the Anglican Communion, Zaria Diocese.
The Vice-Chancellor, who spoke at the occasion, urged Prof Bako and other members of the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a fulfilled life.
One of the officiating ministers at the funeral service, Bishop Ishaya G Baba of the Anglican Communion, Zaria Diocese, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and members of his team for the condolence.
Air Commodore John Bako Ajege, who spoke on behalf of the bereaved family, thanked members of the university community, particularly the Vice-Chancellor and many staff of the university for standing by them during the trying moment.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Bello Sabo; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research, and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Rafindadi Aliyu, accompanied the Vice-Chancellor.
Others on the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage included the Registrar, Rabiu Samaila; and Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Auwalu Umar.
Prof Matoh Dary Dogara, an External Member, Ahmadu Bello University Governing Council, also attended the valedictory/funeral service on behalf of the Council.
