Mainstream Energy Solutions offers to support ABU infrastructure renewal

. Just as the firm plans to partner with the university on 45th convocation

Mainstream Energy Solutions, a privately-owned company licensed to generate power in Nigeria, has offered to support the infrastructure renewal of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

The Nigerian power-generating company also announced plans to partner with the university on its 45th convocation scheduled for January next year.

Specifically, the company pledged to assist in the upgrade of the institution’s internal roads that were constructed in the 1960s and have never been upgraded.

Presently, the institution’s nearly 30 kilometers of internal roads across its two campuses are in a state of near collapse.

Also, the company moves to assist in the rehabilitation of toilets and improvement of water supply to the campuses.

On the partnership for the upcoming convocation, the company will give the institution’s 1000-Seater Abdullahi Mahadi Conference Conference a facelift for the 45th Convocation Lecture.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, expressed the institution’s deep appreciation to the company for a partnership that had grown remarkably since 2017.

Prof Ahmed had early this week paid a courtesy visit to the company in Abuja to thank the electricity firm for its steadfast support and friendship.

He said the company’s plans to support ABU infrastructure renewal and to partner with the university on its forthcoming convocation further confirmed the company’s dedication to the institution’s growth and success.

“Your interventions have consistently come at critical moments, especially when our energy costs escalated to an unsustainable N370 million in May 2025”, he said.

Ahmed stressed that ABu was excited about the company’s bold initiative to replicate the Kainji Dam model power plant at the Faculty of Engineering, a project, which he said, would revolutionise practical training and research.

He described as “a powerful demonstration” of the company’s belief in the future of youths when last week the firm’s chartered flight conveyed 20 of ABU students to the Kainji facility for a hands-on excursion.

“Mainstream Energy Solutions has truly set a benchmark for industry-academia collaboration in Nigeria, and aligned with national development goals”, he stressed.

He appreciated the company’s Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services, Siraj Abdullahi; and Non-Executive Director, Babangida Inuwa, whose leadership, vision, and personal support had been central to the partnership.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to a relationship that would continue to support the company’s operations through quality graduates, research collaboration, and innovation-driven partnerships.
