Vice-Chancellor inspects ABU ongoing 1600-bed space student hostel project
The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, today inspected the ongoing construction of 1600-bed space student hostels at the main campus of the institution.
He was at the project site behind Danfodio Student Hostel on Saturday, 13th September, 2025 for the inspection.
The hostel project, which is under the Public Private Partnership (PPP), consists of two storey buildings for male and female students with each room in suite.
It is an initiative of the Federal Government to essentially reduce the student accommodation problems in Nigerian universities.
The project is in conjunction with the TETFund and beneficiary institutions.
For now, ABU is one of the nine beneficiary institutions.
The Vice-Chancellor, who met construction workers on the project site, was taken round by the Director, Physical Planning and Municipal Services, Arc Suleiman Mohammed.
Arc Mohammed, who equally briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the project, said the scope of the work included the provision of an alternative source of power, solar motorised borehole, and common facilities.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the ongoing project and urged the contractors not to compromise quality.
The project is being handled by Metrospace Construction Company Ltd and Care Properties and Development Ltd as contractors and consultants respectively.
Resident Project Manager for Care Properties and Development Ltd, QS Mohammed Bashir, said the project commenced on 17th July, 2025, with the hope to be completed in April next year.
The Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Auwalu Umar; and Head, University Water Sector, Engr Hussaini Ismail, were with the Vice-Chancellor at the site for the inspection.
