The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has commended the Division of Agricultural Colleges (DAC) for donating 400 cashew and 200 neem seedlings to the University Standing Committee on Tree Planting which were used by the institution to mark this year’s World Environmental Day.
The commendation was contained in a letter to the Director, Division of Agricultural Colleges, dated Wednesday, 21st August, 2024, by Auwalu Y. Mohammed, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor.

“I am directed by the Vice-Chancellor to acknowledge the donation of 600 seedlings (cashew and neem) and to register the University Management’s appreciation for the gesture.

“The timely contribution was made to mark the World Environmental Day, and it will significantly enhance our ongoing efforts to promote environmental sustainability within the University and surrounding communities”, it said.
The University, according to the letter, was confident that the impact of the donation would be felt for years to come as the seedlings would grow and become part of the institution’s ecosystem.

“Your partnership in this initiative is deeply valued, and we look forward to continued collaboration in future endeavours aimed at environmental protection and sustainability”, he concluded.

Just last week, precisely, Wednesday, 14th August, 2024, the University organised a World Environmental Day Symposium/Tree Planting Campaign as part of celebration for the 2024 World Environmental Day.
