Notice of Entrance Examination for Diploma Programmes

The Iya Abubakar Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IAIICT), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, cordially invites all prospective candidates to the Entrance Examination for admission into its Diploma Programmes.

Details of the Examination:
Venue: CBT Center, Opposite Gymnasium, ABU Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Date: Thursday, 19th December 2024.
Time: 8:00 AM (prompt).

Candidates are required to:
1. Arrive at the examination venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
2. Come with the following:
  - A copy of the application form (mandatory).
  - Writing materials and any other necessary documents as specified during the application process.

Life Sciences Faculty honours 27 staff members for ‘exceptional dedication’ to work

A total of 27 staff members of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria were today (Thursday, 19th December, 2024) presented with various awards in recognition of their “exceptional commitment and dedication” to work.

The staff members, whose contributions have made a significant impact on the Faculty, received the awards at the End – of – Year Luncheon organised by the Faculty.

The awards are of three categories and they are: Certificate of Honour, Award of Excellence and Certificate of Merit.

The Certificate of Honour award was presented to 10 staff members of the Faculty in recognition of their exceptional commitment and dedication to work in their respective departments.

The recipients for such an award are Dr Mohammed Ndagi and Mr. Peter Chimezie Akpaka, Department of Biology; and Dr Aisha Muhammed Zongoma and Mr. Ishaq Rabiu, Department of Botany.

They also include Auwal Adamu and Mr. John Paul Shafa, Department of Biochemistry; Malam Abdullahi Buhari and Prof Elijah Ekah Ella, Department of Microbiology; as well as Dr Bayo Kamba and Malam Mustapha Bashir, Department of Zoology.

Three other staff members were also presented with the Certificate of Honour award in recognition of their exceptional commitment to the Faculty.

Mal. Nura Ibrahim Danbaba was recognised as a dedicated member of the Faculty Examinations Office while Mr. Sabo Mati Madaki and Mal. Hashimu Abdullahi were honoured in recognition of their exceptional commitment and dedication to the Faculty as the Faculty Secretary and Casual Staff respectively.

The Award of Excellence was presented to those who have retired or are leaving for secondment in recognition of their invaluable services to the Faculty.

The recipients of this category of award are Mr. Stephen Jock, Chief Technologist; Prof Isa Obansa Abdullahi, Head of Department of Microbiology; and Prof Madu Ibrahim Katsallah Gadzama, Head of Department of Biology and Deputy Dean.

Equally, a total of 11 staff members bagged the Certificate of Merit award. Dr Nura Salisu got the honour in recognition of his exceptional dedication and meritorious service as the Faculty Examinations Officer.

Others are Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Hussaini, Microbiology; Dr Bassa Yakubu, Biochemistry; Dr Aisha Muhammed Zongoma, Botany; Dr Yusuf Wada, Zoology; and Dr Yusuf Abdullateef, Biology. They were all recognised as Departmental Examinations Officers.

The five others who received the Certificate of Merit award in recognition of their exceptional dedication and meritorious service to their Departments as Departmental Postgraduate Coordinators are Prof Elijah Ekah Ella, Microbiology; and Dr Abdullahi Bala Hassan, Biology.

They also include Dr Aliyu Mohammed, Biochemistry; Dr Yahuza Tanimu, Botany; and Dr Bayo Kamba, Zoology.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof Maryam Aminu, who spoke at the occasion, explained that the staff’s outstanding performance inspired and raised the standard of excellence in the Faculty.

Prof Maryam, who described the awards as a small token of the Faculty’s immense gratitude and respect for their services, also said their contributions would always be remembered and cherished.
